Did You Know? API 650 Wind Design Loads

Did you know?  API 650 wind design loads are based on working stress criteria.  When ASCE 7-10 was released, the design wind speed changed to limit state design criteria. However, API 650 wind design loads are based on working stress criteria in accordance with ASCE 7-05. Per API 650 section 5.2.1.k, the wind speed working stress conversion formula is the ASCE 7-10 wind speed multiplied by 0.78.
