Advance Tank and Construction is a construction company that works throughout the continental United States. We build large capacity, steel erected, storage products from the ground up. We are looking for an Engineer II. We are interested in those who are experienced, hardworking, and know how to work safely.
PAY RANGE
$120,000 to $140,000 yearly
The pay range is dependent on the person’s experience and capabilities. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, 401K, and health & dental insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 5 years of experience in civil and/or mechanical engineering.
- PE stamp is required.
- Must be an expert in at least one of the following areas of design: tanks, foundations, piping or structural.
- Must know, or have an ability to learn, the standards and codes by which tanks are built, ex: API, AWWA and ASME.
- Must have an ability to learn how to check drawings for scope compliance as well as dimensional accuracy and learn to use AutoCAD and Inventor to make changes if needed.
- Must be able to use appropriate computer programs to design tanks and foundations including Ansys/SOLIDWORKS and Mathcad.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, a good attitude and work well in a team atmosphere.
- Must have strong written and oral skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & TASKS
- Work with Engineering Manager to assist the various departments: Sales, Estimating, Drafting, Manufacturing and Field Operations, in proper designs of company products, including looking for value engineering opportunities, the design and engineering of related manufactured products as well as engineering of equipment necessary for construction.
- PE stamp self-performed work as well as peer review and stamp other in-house engineering work.
- Work as a part of the engineering/drafting team to meet schedules for completion.
- Work with the Drafting Manager to ensure that all drawings being checked are completed on time and meet the drafting department’s needs and expectations.
- Review drawings for scope compliance as well as compliance with building codes and standards. In addition, the checking process will require you to check for accuracy of bevel details, measurements, and adherence to Advance Tank guidelines.
- Assist drafting with drawing work as needed to meet designs.
- Assist as directed to ensure that the Company is up to date and complies with all industry engineering codes and standards for the work the Company performs.
- Assist as directed to maintain consistency with drafting procedures throughout the Company, making sure they meet current industry codes/standards as well as meet the goals of the Operations department.
- Assist the sales and estimating departments with bid designs per agreed upon schedule.
- With training, learn to design civil items such as tank foundation, piles, slabs as well as structural items related to piping, access and roof design.
- Be able to discuss with both internal and external customers designs in a manner that can be comprehended by non-engineers.
- Maintain PE stamp, add additional PE state licenses as needed to support companies work.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & TASKS
- Develop and Design products that may lead to new markets for the Company.
- Assist operations with designing erection equipment and other items as needed to support our construction.
SCHEDULE
- Daily hours of office operation are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday; however, depending on workload or travel these hours may vary.
WORK CONDITIONS
- This job requires the worker to be able to sit at a desk in an office environment as well as travel and work around a shop and/or field construction site. Requires travel away from home.
